Naming clothes
Pergunta: Salam. I hope you are well. I\'m making woman\'s dress brand&want to give the brand an Arabic name but don\'t want the name to be offensive to Islam. The clothing is not Islamic [it is fitted to body & shows arms]. Can I name the brand something that means \"heavenly,\" like Samawi?. If not, is it permissible to give name that means object in paradise [like flower or door from Paradise]? If not, a name that means something good like \"noble\" or \"just\"? If that is not permissible, a pretty Arabic name that has a nice meaning but doesn\'t mean something from heaven, like it means \"leader\"princess\"/\"queen\"? Please help. Jazakhallah Khair
Resposta:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-Salaamu Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullaahi Wa-Barakaatuh.
It is permissible to use clothes that show arms as long as the person uses it in appropriate environment, for example, a woman may wear it in front of her husband. You will not be sinning if one uses it in inappropriate environment.
In regards to naming the clothes with names of paradise like flower etc, it is permissible. However, don’t use Allah’s name or names that deserve respect, because clothes may be put on the floor and that will show disrespect.
